Conception of a new intranet for Burckhardt Compression AG.
The market leader in the field of piston compressor systems relied on innobit's capabilities and the strengths of Microsoft's Microsoft 365 platform when setting up and designing the new, modern intranet solution. Together with a specialist group of business representatives, the requirements were discussed in various analyses and workshops and the appropriate future information architecture was developed, templates defined and the underlying processes mapped.
All the key points and settings were recorded in the solution design so that Burckhardt Compression was able to implement everything independently via its internal IT in a further phase.
About the customer
Burckhardt Compression, headquartered in Winterthur, is an internationally active manufacturer of reciprocating compressor systems and service provider. The Group employs around 2,500 people and has its own subsidiaries in 21 countries and representatives in over 80 countries.
Using Microsoft 365 for the path to the cloud
The existing intranet, based on SharePoint 2010 on prem, had to be replaced. Burckhardt Compression's needs and requirements were clearly in the direction of Microsoft Cloud based on the available board resources. The company had already been working with Microsoft 365 and wanted to incorporate these services into the new solution.

Burckhardt Compression employs around 2500 people on various continents. With the new intranet solution, Burckhardt Compression has the advantage that many areas of communication function better. The different countries are more involved in the overall exchange and are moving closer together thanks to the new intranet platform. Participants can present themselves to the company with a wide variety of concerns. This modern form of communication makes employees happier.
Tasks and workflow
In 5 online workshops, each lasting half a day, the idea for the future design of the intranet, navigation, processes, personalization and templates was moderated and jointly developed by innobit in a working group of business representatives. Based on the results, innobit provided the relevant technical input for the implementation, which was then carried out independently by Burckhardt Compression. Of course, the customer could always fall back on innobit's expertise in the event of problems or questions. This workflow was rated positively by the customer.
