New intranet for ABB Switzerland Turbocharging based on SharePoint
innobit worked with the ABB team for around 6 months to design and build a new intranet based on Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online. We introduce you to the customer and the project.
About the customer
ABB Group is a leading Swedish-Swiss power and automation group with headquarters in Västerås, Sweden and Zurich, Switzerland. The Group operates worldwide and employs around 110,000 people in 100 countries. "In a figurative sense, ABB Schweiz AG Turbocharging in Baden is sailing the world's oceans, digging for diamonds or ore or supplying electricity to improve the living conditions of people in developing countries. How does it do this? By dedicating itself to turbocharging combustion engines since its beginnings in the 1920s. We specialize in the development, manufacture, distribution and worldwide service of exhaust gas turbochargers for medium and large diesel and gas engines, which are used in precisely these areas. The project
We were asked to migrate a new intranet for ABB Switzerland Turbocharging on the basis of SharePoint. The aim was to develop a new, innovative intranet, taking into account the company's history and the desired features.
In addition to technical know-how, it was also important for us to have good business skills. We wanted a company with which we could build a partnership and a long-term, trusting relationship. This was decisive in the selection process. With innobit AG, we have definitely found the right company.

What were your requirements for innobit AG? Why did you choose innobit for this project?
We chose innobit because of their expertise and experience in SharePoint and Office365. It was important for us to get a market overview with best practices and state-of-the-art solutions in advance. innobit provided us with exactly that. Our future partner should also have the ability to respond to our very specific needs and proactively deliver ideas. Our goal: to develop a new, innovative intranet, taking into account our history and the desired features.
What advantages does the innobit AG solution offer your company?
We tried out a number of solutions during the proof of concept. But nothing convinced us. innobit offered us a great alternative with an out-of-the-box solution that met all our requirements. The advantage of the innobit solution is that we work with standard tools and have not designed any extra tools. We wanted to keep the effort as low as possible. innobit respected exactly these wishes. The solution from innobit ag makes maintenance and future migrations easier for us.
How long did the project take?
The first talks began around a year ago. The proof of concept lasted three months. Total project duration: 6 months.
What were the challenges in realizing the project? Were there any hurdles to overcome?
There were no major problems during the project. We had a fixed budget and wanted to implement the project in an agile and dynamic way. That's why there were some adjustments at the beginning. innobit handled this challenge very well and flexibly. We were informed almost daily with short status calls and always knew what the next steps were and what the budget status was. We really appreciated this transparency.
